The Haldi is the sunniest event of an Indian wedding: turmeric, marigolds, music and a lot of laughter. Its invitation should feel the same. Here is what to put on a Haldi card, plus wording you can copy.
What to include on a Haldi invitation
- The couple's names (or just the bride's or groom's, if the families hold separate Haldis)
- Date and time. Haldi is usually a morning or early-afternoon event.
- Venue, often the family home, a courtyard or a lawn
- Dress code. Almost always yellow, but say it, and mention that clothes may get stained.
- RSVP. A family member's name and number
Fun Haldi invitation wording
- "Come get yellow with us! Join the Haldi of Ishita & Kabir."
- "Turmeric, tunes and a whole lot of love. You're invited to our Haldi."
- "Things are about to get a little yellow. Haldi ceremony of Riya & Aman."
- "Before the vows, the glow. Celebrate the Haldi of Neha & Arjun."
- "Wear yellow, bring your dancing feet, and don't mind the mess!"
- "Pre-wedding glow loading… Join us for the Haldi!"
- "Haldi hai, masti hai, aur aap ke bina adhuri hai. Please join us!"
Traditional Haldi invitation wording
- "With the blessings of our elders, we invite you to the Haldi ceremony of our daughter Ishita."
- "Kindly grace the auspicious Haldi ceremony of Kabir with your presence and blessings."
- "The Sharma family requests the pleasure of your company at the Haldi ceremony of Ananya & Vikram."
- "Your blessings will make this sacred ritual complete. Haldi ceremony, 10 AM onwards."
Short lines for WhatsApp
- "Haldi tomorrow, 10 AM. Wear yellow! 💛"
- "Save the morning: Haldi, Friday 11 Dec, 10 AM, at home."
- "Yellow outfits, old clothes underneath. See you at the Haldi!"
Dress code lines
- "Dress code: shades of yellow"
- "Wear yellow, and something you don't mind getting turmeric on"
- "Theme: yellow & white"
Etiquette tips
- Send it with the wedding invitation, or one to two weeks before. Close family usually hears by phone first.
- Keep the guest list intimate. Haldi is traditionally for close family and friends, so a separate Haldi card helps manage numbers.
- Mention timings clearly, especially if the Haldi and Mehndi are on the same day.
